Canadian National Site Licensing Project
to Survey University Faculty on E-journal Usage
The Canadian National Site Licensing Project (CNSLP) is a Canada
Foundation for Innovation sponsored project established in January
2000 by the Canadian research library community to increase the
capacity for research innovation in Canada. Included among CNSLP's
objectives are the intent to build Canada's research capacity by
increasing published scholarly content available to academic researchers
throughout Canada, and the transformation of the research environment
by speeding the transition from print-based to digital and value-added
forms of scholarly content.
A key component in the assessment of CNSLP is
an understanding of the research community's usage and satisfaction/impacts
of electronic scientific publications. To that end, CNSLP has engaged
The Impact Group, an independent research company, to carry out
a telephone survey with a random sample of university faculty in
the fields of science, engineering, health and the environment who
are affiliated with CNSLP member universities. During the latter
part of October and the month of November, research faculty will
be contacted by The Impact Group to invite their participation in
a confidential telephone interview of approximately 15-20 minutes.
This is an opportunity to make an impact and ensure that the needs
of researchers will continue to be met.
Results from this study will be made available
on our website (www.cnslp.ca) early in 2003. For more information,
